“The Evolving Felter”
Is a digital presentation about my fiber experiences, and the evolution of my art from the early 1970’s to the present. I will show visual images and actual pieces with commentary on the ups, downs, successes and accidents that accompanied my evolution with fibers. The possibilities for future explorations with weaving and felting will also be shared. Questions will be answered as needed.
“Felt Amulets”
10-12 students maximum
Participants will learn a technique for felting over a form to create a decorative felt amulet. Felted amulets can be embellished with beads or embroidery. Individual creativity will be encouraged. Felting requires the use of physical energy. $5.00 materials fee
“Felt Tulips”
10-12 students maximum
Participants will learn a technique for felting over a 2-dimensional resist to create a decorative felt tulip with stem and stamen. Individual creativity will be encouraged. Felting requires the use of physical energy. $5.00 materials fee

“Felt Tulip & Poppy Corsage”
Participants will learn two resist methods for creating felt flowers that resemble tulips and poppies. These flowers can be embellished with beads and embroidery; add a pin to the back for a corsage; or combine several felt flowers together for a bouquet. Felting requires the use of physical energy. Materials fee $10.00

Description of One-Day Felting Workshops
(Approximately 6 hours for each workshop)
10-12 students maximum

Wavy Woven Felted Fabric Condensed ©
At home, participants will weave loose fabric on a loom, following simple weaving instructions. Alter the handwoven fabric with wool fiber, sheer fabric and wet felting to achieve wavy selvages, textured surfaces, ruffles, gathers and puckers. Use the fabric in garments, home-fashions or wall art. A high-energy class suitable for all levels. Materials fee $25
“Felt Collage”
Participants will bring loosely woven fabric scraps, thrums, hand spun, novelty yarns, sheer ribbons and sheer fabric to create a small felt collage wall piece. Using a rough sketch, as a guide, collage elements will be cut and assembled. Through discussion and demonstration, ideas will be given for anchoring the elements and framing the collage with felt. This workshop is suitable for all levels. Felting requires the use of physical energy. Materials fee $25
“Felt Seamless Bags or Vessels”
Participants will learn the process of designing flat pattern resists to create simple, three-dimensional, seamless, felt objects, such as bags and vessels. Ideas and suggestions will be given for adding fringe, flaps, pockets and appendages. Information on straps and bag closures will also be given. Individual artistic explorations and expressions will be encouraged. This workshop can be adjusted for all levels. Felting requires the use of physical energy. Materials fee $25

Description of Two – Three Day Felting Workshops
(Approximately 6 hours per day)
10-12 students maximum
$375 each day, plus mileage and travel expenses
“Wavy Woven Felted Fabric” © (2 Days)
Day 1: A 4-harness loom is required; warping directions will be forwarded to participants prior to the workshop. In the workshop everyone will weave and felt a number of samples with a variety of scalloped selvedges and hems. Once a desirable sample is achieved, participants will weave fabric for a scarf to be felted on day 2.
Day 2: Managing and shaping hand-woven/felt scarves and yardage including the addition of commercial fabric. A variety of felt hem techniques will also be demonstrated, such as fringe, scallops, ruffles and stitchery. Felting is labor intensive. Materials fee $35 U.S.
“Wavy Woven Felted Dyed Fabric” © (3 Days)
Day 1: Students will wind and paint warps and weave fabric on a loom for use on day 2.
Day 2: The woven fabric will be altered with wool fiber and wet felting resulting in wavy selvages and textured surfaces. The addition of silk fabric will add ruffles, gathers and puckers.
Day 3: Chemical dyes will be used to add color to finished projects. Each participant will create a portfolio of samples and several projects such as wearable, home fashion or art pieces. A high- energy class suitable for all skill levels. Materials fee $45 U.S.
“Felting on Silk and Microwave Dyeing” (2 Days)
Day 1: Participants will use wool fiber and wet felting on silk scarves and/or fabric to create textured fabric suitable for wearable or wall art.
Day 2: Fabric created on day 1 will be resisted and vat dyed first, then painted with MX dyes and fixed onto the cloth in the microwave. Suggestions for embellishing and finishing will also be demonstrated. This workshop is suitable for all levels. Felting requires the use of physical energy. Materials fee $40 U.S.
“Felt Seamless Floral Bags, or Vessels” (2 Days)
Day 1: Participants will learn the process of designing flat pattern resists to create simple, three-dimensional, seamless, felt objects, such as bags and vessels. Ideas and suggestions will be given for adding fringe, flaps, pockets, appendages and straps.
Day 2: Using techniques from day 1, individuals will design a three-dimensional felt bag with a flower closure. Individual artistic explorations and expressions will be encouraged. This workshop can be adjusted for all levels. Felting requires the use of physical energy. Materials fee $40 U.S.
